The streets we are used to are always occupied by vehicles, our lives are unconsciously constrained and ignored by such the traffic system. Throughout the year, people could only get back on the streets during only some special festivals and events. Therefore, will there be more life trace happening on the street in the future? There's no life trace now. So, what is the essence of the street? The formulation of urban planning consists of three elements: building volume, open space, and traffic system. Among them, when the traffic system is developed for private cars, all the roads are occupied by vehicles, and the walking space for pedestrians is constantly compressed. What happens in the outside world has nothing to do with them when people move from a place to another place. Not to mention that life and activities take place on the streets. Therefore, what I want to challenge is how to minimize the entry of cars under the existing urban structure without sacrificing the convenience brought by the private cars. When everyone spends an extra five minutes on commuting, it can lead to a better urban environment, quality of life, and increase the probability of fortuitous meet between people on GL=0 streets.
