臺灣三十多年來，每年多達十萬人罹患癌症，雖然有良好的醫療環境，但是癌症自殺率卻是全球最高，而這些醫療行為已成為某些人的日常，那台灣的問題是否不是出在於醫療本身，而是我們在醫療照護的過程中，是否有傾聽癌症病患他們的心聲或著感受，在這些醫療過程的背後，是否能透過空間與環境創造出安寧照護的另外一種日常。
傳統的安寧病房人員進進出出，環境噪音干擾，急救及救護車聲，不免影響病患的心理，封閉的空間，使病患感受不到外界的變化，病患無法自主的感受時間與環境，容易使得身體加速衰退，透過增加與人的交流的空間與自然環境的介入，在最後的時間中，與家人、好友在舒適的空間中陪伴，病患不僅有最大的自主權，家屬也可以全程陪伴，有助於提升臨終末期病患生活品質，來滿足病患能在病後能與正常的生活關係連結。
